Sorority Recruitment: Style Tips and Shopping Guide
Hello loves! For most schools, sorority recruitment is right around the corner. I remember planning my outfits for recruitment week as a PNM and it can be overwhelming! I asked y'all on Instagram (follow along @thechanchic) if this was a post that you would like to see, and so many of you said yes. SO today I'm going to share some of my tips for choosing your recruitment week outfits, as well as some style tips I have.
In this post I'm only going to focus on outfits for philanthropy, sisterhood, and pref days. At UT (where I'm a tri delt!), PNM's wear matching recruitment t shirts, khaki shorts, and sneakers for the first open house round. I know other schools do something along the lines of this so I'm not going to touch on this day because there isn't a lot of room for personal style.
Dresses are worn on the other three days, and a good rule of thumb is that your outfit should get a little fancier as the week progresses. You should start with a nice sundress and wedges (or sandals) on philanthropy day, and work your way to a cocktail dress and heels by pref night. For philanthropy and sisterhood days, I also think it is appropriate to trade a dress for a romper or jumpsuit, but I would stick with a dress for pref night. Below I have rounded up some dresses that I think would be perfect for recruitment! You can click on the images of the dresses to be redirected to the website where they're available to shop.
Some things to keep in mind when selecting your dresses
- avoid anything with large side or stomach cutouts
- stay away from dresses that are too low cut and show too much cleavage
- you're going to be wearing the same outfit for numerous hours, so don't choose anything too uncomfy
- it's going to be hot outside and inside the houses, so choose dresses made from materials that are lightweight and breathable
- don't be afraid to show your personality!!!
And no look would be complete without shoes! From my experience, wedges or heels are great for philanthropy and sisterhood days, but I would strictly go with heels for pref night. And don't be afraid to wear the same shoes with multiple outfits! The girls in the houses see so many different girls over the week that they won't even notice. Scroll through below to see my top picks for recruitment week shoes.
And finally, here are some jewelry ideas to finish off your look. Here are some great minimal options (most of which come in gold and silver) that will pull together any look, but I also included a few statement pieces that would compliment a more simple outfit. I hope you enjoyed this post, and best of luck to y'all going through recruitment. I know you're going to be gret and end up in the perfect house for you!
